Welcome emails: what to send when someone joins
Someone joined your list a minute ago and does not know you yet. The welcome email says what you do, what happens next, and why they should stay.

How to write welcome emails
When to send it
Send it to anyone who has just joined your list: a signup form on your site, a first booking, a first order, or a card filled in at the counter. They gave you an address a moment ago and are still paying attention.
It works for a customer who has not bought yet and for a first-time client with a class, a cut or a table booked. Both are wondering what happens now, and both will take a short answer.
Skip it for people who already know you well, like a regular who has been coming for years. They do not need an introduction, and the follow-up emails in the flow cover them anyway.
Timing
Send the welcome email as soon as someone joins, while the signup is fresh. A hello that arrives a day later reads like a newsletter they do not remember asking for.
Then keep the thread going for about a week. In the AguMail flow this page is built around, the welcome goes out right away, an "Our story" email follows 2 days later, and a "Where to start" email lands 3 days after that. Three emails in the first week is enough for most small businesses.

How AguMail sends it
AguMail sets up a flow that starts when someone joins your list. It sends the welcome email right away, then "Our story" 2 days later, then "Where to start" 3 days after that. Turn the flow on and it sends by itself, on every plan, Free included, and the Free plan includes two flows.
Every template is free on every plan. Using this one copies it into your account and opens it in the editor, where you can change every word, color and picture. If you want a head start on the wording, the writing assistant can draft from the business details saved in AguMail, and you read and approve it before it goes out.
This flow runs on every plan, Free included.
Common questions about welcome emails
How soon should the welcome email go out?
Right away, while the signup is still fresh. People who join and hear nothing for a day often forget they signed up at all.
How long should a welcome email be?
Short enough to read on a phone in under a minute. Say who you are, what they get from you, and what to do next.
Can I put an offer in the welcome email?
Yes, if you have one to give. A first-order discount or a free first class fits here, and if it has an end date, say what it is.
Do I need more than one welcome email?
One is enough to start. A short series, like the three emails in the flow above, gives a new subscriber a reason to open the next one.
Does this work on the Free plan?
Yes. Every template is free on every plan, Free included, and the Free plan includes two flows.
