How to write review request emails
When to send it
Send it to people who bought something or came in, and only once they have had a chance to use it. A customer who picked up a skillet on Saturday can say something useful about it by Thursday. Someone who came in for a cleaning can say something that same week.
Ask about one thing the customer actually bought or booked. The clinic template names the cleaning and the dentist. The watch template names the model. A generic request to your whole list asks people to describe something they may not remember.
Leave out anyone who has already left a review, and anyone whose order was refunded or replaced. A review request that lands while a problem is still open reads as if nobody was paying attention.
Timing
For a product, send a few days after delivery. For an appointment or a class, a day or two after the visit, while it is still fresh. For software, give people two weeks so they have used enough of it to have an opinion.
One email is usually enough. If you want a second ask, wait at least a month and send it to the people who have not replied. It should be short, and it should sound like a person, not a reminder notice.

Common questions about review request emails
How soon after a purchase should I ask for a review?
A few days for a product, and a day or two for an appointment or a class. Ask while the customer can still remember the details of what they got.
Should I send it to my whole list or to a segment?

Can I change the template?

What if the customer had a bad experience?
They will often tell you in the reply, which is worth knowing. Answer them, fix what you can, and hold off on another review request until it is sorted out.
Does this email go out on its own?
